Miss Tanzania beauty pageant season finally kicked off last weekend with two events at the University of Dar es Salaam where the Miss University was held and Miss Dar City Centre held at Lamada Hotel, Ilala
This was after a long wait that kept enthusiasts on their toes in anticipation of what was to happen.
At UDSM Masonobo Chiaru beat other beauties to the crown as Alexia William did likewise in Ilala.
The competition at the UDSM also featured the Mr University of Dar es Salaam 2011, which was won by Jenerali Ulimwngu Jr.
The student audience which expected to be entertained by rapper AY who not appeared but instead organisers made amends by bringing crank master CPwaa, who performed some of his famous hits, despite poor sound quality.
The show was graced by the presence of the Associate Professor of Law Faculty Prof. Florens Luoga, and Miss Tanzania Organizing Committee chairman, Hashim Lundenga.
The winner Miss University of Dar es Salaam, Masonobo Chiaru has quailed directly for the Miss Tanzania final whereas Miss Dar City Centre, Alexia William will have to go through the Miss Dar es Salaam sieve .
