Acting Principal Magistrate, Alagbe Taiwo Ade of the Banjul Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday adjourned the criminal trial of Lamin Darboe, Ebrima Drammeh (alias Jim Drammeh),Edrisa Jobe (alias Alagie Morr) and Omar Jammeh (alias Boy Boots) following the absence of a counsel representing the case.
Abdoulie Sissoho, counsel for Lamin Darboe (first accused) and Ebrima Drammeh (second accused) was in court with Assan Martin counsel for Omar Jammeh (fourth accused) and Loubna Farage counsel for Edrisa Jobe (third accused).
Sissoho applied to the court to discharge the second prosecution witness and his testimony to be closed, but he later withdrew the application.
The matter is adjourned to Thursday 2nd June 2011.
Readers could recall that Lamin Darboe, Ebrima Jammeh and Edrisa Jobe are standing trial on two counts of criminal offences. Count one stated that the three accused persons sometime in May 2009 at the NIA head office in Banjul conspired amongst themselves to cause injury to the persons of Lamin Karbou and Lamin Sima.
Count two indicated that the accused persons sometime in May 2009, at the NIA head office in Banjul, with intent to cause grievous harm to Lamin Karbou and Lamin Sima, unlawfully wounded Lamin Karbou and Lamin Sima, by beating them with fist blows, electric cables and metals.
The charge against Mr. Jammeh is Common Assault contrary to Section 227 of the Criminal Code, Laws of The Gambia.
