Not too much is known about the Republic of Cameroun in Kenya but the country has a lot to offer. The country’s national football team has won the highest accolades at the international level including African Nation Cup wins and a famous run into the quarter finals at the FIFA world cup final in 1990 led by talismanic striker Roger Milla. They also have several well know singing stars that specialize in the makossa beat including Sam Fan Thomas and Prince Ndedi Eyango. This past Saturday was a special day as the Cameroun Community in Kenya with their leader Thomas Nouboussi in attendance converged at the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi to celebrate their Union Day.
They marked the union of the French and English parts of Cameroun that were merged in May 20 1972 to form the Republic of Cameroun after years of discord. The gala at the Hilton was preceded by a Johnny Walker sponsored cocktail where Cameroonians who are the most civil of Africans bonded with Kenya locals and other nationals.
