Hundreds of Kenyans visiting Loliondo village in Tanzania for the ‘miracle cure’ have claimed they are being harassed by the authorities.
They alleged that the Tanzanian authority have been extorting them during their pilgrimage to Ambilikile Mwasapile.
They made the remarks yesterday during the East African Community Rapid Result Initiative Sensitisation workshop at Seasons Hotel in Narok.
Wilson Masikonde said more roadblocks have been erected and one is required to part with some money to be allowed to pass. “Kenyans going to Loliondo are being harassed by Tanzanian authorities who are taking advantage of the ailing to extort them. We have to pass many roadblocks and bribe the police,” said Masikonde, who is also Olposimoru ward councillor in Narok.
Masikonde said the East Africa Community should do abolish roadblocks to reduce time wasting and extortion. “The key objectives of the East African Community will only be realized if non-tariff barriers are removed,” added Masikonde.
Kenneth Nyambati, the deputy director in the Ministry of East African Community said when the community protocol is enforced, non-tariff barriers will be abolished.
