Kenya: KPL Want Oguda Back in Harambee Stars Board

Kenya Premier League yesterday demanded the reinstatement of their CEO Jack Oguda back into the Harambee Stars Management Board.

The board had on Thursday fired Oguda following a stand-off between the company and Football Kenya Limited (FKL) over the release of Harambee Stars players ahead of Kenya’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier return leg match against Angola on June 4. “We have reasons to demand our CEO’s reinstatement into the HSMB since we now have players in the team and they need a representative in the same,” said KPL governing council chairman Chimsen Ndiema. Oguda could not be reached for comment.

Oguda’s axing follows a letter by the HSMB chairman Evans Kidero to the minister for sports Paul Otuoma, demanding his dismissal as a result of his continued sabotage of the national team despite sitting in the same board.

Kidero observed that Oguda was colluding with other individuals in sabotaging the national team by failing to release players from KPL clubs as required by head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno. “We have reason to believe he (Oguda) is working with outside forces to sabotage the activities of the national team, Harambee Stars and yet he is a member of the Harambee Stars Management Board,” said Kidero. “We are concerned over his continued stay in the board and I request his nomination be revoked,” he observed. “Furthermore, we have raised issues of integrity against him during the Kenya/Angola match on March 26 played in Nairobi,” added Kidero.
