Mogadishu — The officials of Somali interim federal government on Sunday claimed victory over fighting with Al shabaab, which the United States of America alleges to be al Qaeda’s proxy in the horn of African nation.

In an exclusive interview with Shabelle Media Network, General Sheikh Yusuf Mohamed Siad better known as Indha-adde said that the interim government forces are approaching Mogadishu’s main market where Al shabaab tightly controls.

For his part, Sheikh Ali Mohamoud Rage, the spokesman of Al shabaab movement said that they had the upper hand during battles in the capital.

However, bitter clashes between Somali forces backed African Union peacekeepers and Al shabaab fighters re-erupted in the districts of Hodan and Howlwadag where had the been scene of fighting in the last three years.

This fighting following recent Mogadishu straggles between Somali government and Al shabaab.
