Sadc's troika heavily reprimanded the former ruling party at the Livingstone summit in March, and told Mugabe to end violence and politically-motivated arrests, among other things. Cameroonian star Ndedi Eyango, popularly known for his stage name Prince Eyango, jets in today in readiness for his performance at the Cameroon National Day celebrations in Nairobi. The event will be held at Hilton Hotel tomorrow.

Prince will be jetting in from Douala, Cameroon aboard a Kenya Airways flight. The legendary singer who is famed for his hit You Must Calculate is the guest of honour at the gala night to mark Cameroonian National day. This is his second visit to the country after his 1991 tour.

Titus Naikuni, Kenya Airways CEO, said, “As a big supporter of African culture, art and music, Kenya Airways is proud to be associated with Prince Eyango, a leading African musician.”

The National Day is a holiday in Cameroon celebrated on May 20. Cameroon has no single date of independence. The United Nations Trust Territory known as French Cameroun achieved independence from France on January 1 1960, and British Southern Cameroons changed status from a Trusteeship under British administration to a federated state within Cameroon on October 1 1961. The government chose May 20 as Cameroon’s National Day to commemorate President Ahmadou Ahidjo’s abolishment of the federal system of government and creation of a unitary state in 1972. The Nairobi event is organised by Kenya Airways in conjunction with the Association of Cameroonians living in Kenya.
