Mogadishu — Intense confrontations between Somali troops backed by AU forces and Al shabaab fighters on Monday restarted near Bakaara, Mogadishu’s largest and busiest market in the capital.
Heavy crackling of machine gunfire could be heard in many parts of Hodan and Howlwadag districts.
Al shabaab and Somali troops are struggling and fighting the control of Bakaara market where the government believes to be a stronghold for militants.
Most of the combats are continuing in the intersections of Adan Adde, Howlwadag and Bakaara.
The fighting is part of Mogadishu battles which were going on in the past four years.
On Sunday, at least 15 people were killed and 50 others hurt in Mogadishu fighting and bombardments.
