Carlo Ancelotti has dropped his biggest hint yet that his future could lie away from Chelsea after he saw his side beaten 1-0 by Everton.

Ancelotti, whose side completed an FA Cup and Premier League double last year before failing to win anything this term, admitted that he is unsure of what awaits him.

He said: “I am now officially on holiday today but now I don’t know how long I will be on that holiday.”

Rumours have been circulating about the Italian’s future since Chelsea’s disappointing run of form at the turn of the year and Ancelotti made it clear that he knew his job is under consideration.

He said: “Maybe we will talk next week. Now the club has finished the season they can judge my job and they will take a decision in one week. I have to wait and see what happens.

“I don’t have to tell the club anything; they can judge my job for two years and looking at that they can comfortably take a decision.”

The Blues were beaten by a Jermain Beckford strike at Goodison Park today, their ninth defeat this season, and Ancelotti confessed that motivation has been an issue since the Stamford Bridge outfit were knocked out of the title race.

He continued: “We would have liked to finish the season differently but unfortunately we didn’t have strong motivation today, even when we had one more player in the second half. We didn’t play well.

“It’s normal at the end of the season. We have struggled for motivation since the defeat to Manchester United. We worked really hard but then we lost the fight for the title so to maintain motivation is difficult.”

Ancelotti finished by praising the Chelsea fans efforts throughout the season despite their difficulties and also promised them they would see a new Fernando Torres next term.

“I have a very good relationship with the fans, they have supported us all the time, for this reason I am really happy,” he said.

“We have had difficulties but we can’t say we are happy with second place. Chelsea is a top team. Sometimes you can have problems that mean you aren’t able to win and that is this year for us.”

Speaking of the Spanish striker he added: “For Fernando, next season it will be totally different. He can improve his condition and his speed. He has used his time since January to get to know his teammates, to know the atmosphere in the squad and he will do really differently.”
