Team Thrash Hapless Swaziland

Nigeria recorded the highest score of the competition and also made it their seventh win at the Pepsi ICC Africa Premier League Division 2 T20 Tournament in Botswana with a 162-runs victory over Swaziland at Field A of the Eastern Cricket Ground.

Sean Phillips (105 runs not out), Ramit Gill (59 runs), Endurance Ofem (30 runs) and Kunle Adegbola 8 runs steadied the ship after Ademola Onikoyi lost his wicket in the first ball of the over.

Sean struck nine fours and four sixes during his 64 balls knock of 105 not out to top score while Ramit Gill’s effortless batting saw him smashing five fours and four sixes which included three consecutive sixes in the eleventh over.

Swaziland ‘s bowlers were second best throughout the first innings as the quartet of Joseph James Wright, Sauerman Eastian, Aktar Waheed and Martin Litsha Tumber taking one wicket each with the Captain Endurance’s led team finishing on 208 for 4 wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, Swaziland batsmen all failed as they were uncomfortable the pace bowling of Saheed Akolade who took 3 wickets for 7 runs, 1 maiden in 4 overs and was ably assisted by Nigeria’s leading wicket taker Lekan Awolowo who had 3 wickets as the side reduced their opponents to 46 runs all out in 14.5 overs.

Joseph James Wright was the leading batsman for his side with 12 runs and Mohammed Hansrod a meagre 9 runs.

The victory has now placed Nigeria one step into Division 1 of the Pepsi ICC Africa Premier League T20 and a victory over Tanzania in tomorrow’s match guarantees qualification.
