Dabanani Electrical Boss Writes President Jammeh

Alhagie EF Conteh, the managing director of Dabanani Electrical Enterprise (DEE) has written to President Jammeh thanking him for creating the enabling environment for the maintenance of peace and prosperity in The Gambia.

The letter reads:

On behalf of Dabanani Electrical Enterprise (DEE) and on my own behalf, I wish to register sincere gratitude to you, in particular, and your government for creating the enabling environment for the maintenance of peace and prosperity in this country. Indeed Your Excellency, Dear President, ever since you gallantly assumed the mantle of leadership in this, our beloved homeland, unprecedented, impressive and rapid progress and development have been recorded in all spheres of Gambian life. For this and many other reasons, The Gambian people are, and will always be grateful to you and will remain unflinchingly supportive of you.

As an indigenous Gambian company, we continue to register success in all our endeavours principally because of your patronage in awarding to us many contracts. Notable among these are: The Rural Electrification Project Phase 1, The African Union Summit Street Lights Project, the Trade Gateway Project and the recent Independence Stadium Floodlights Rehabilitation Project. We were able to successfully implement all these works to the expressed satisfaction of your government and people of the country.

Your Excellency, Dear President, the high level support and patronage you have been giving to DEE is in tandem with your clarion and patriotic call that professionally trained and qualified Gambians should not wait for gainful employment from government but should instead establish companies and enterprises so that wealth generated as a result of their activities will remain within the confines of The Gambia, thereby contributing positively to national development. These calls, as well as your visionary and dynamic leadership are among many reasons for which you are very much admired and respected by all rightful thinking Gambians.

Your Excellency, as a Muslim, I am required to totally submit myself to the will of Allah, the teachings of the Holy Prophet and to follow and respect the leadership of my country, as long as its edicts are not in conflict with the norms and values of the religion. To the best of my knowledge, you have governed this country in a manner which ensures not only that Christians and Muslims alike peacefully coexist, but are also guaranteed the freedom to practice their faiths according to their beliefs. Furthermore, you have steered the affairs of this country with righteousness and fortitude and therefore, I am and will continue to be loyal and faithful to you now and at all times.

Against this background Your Excellency, Dear President, I am sure you can understand my anxiety and consternation when I was informed by the Council of Elders of Gunjur that you have reasons to be skeptical of my loyalty to you, your government and APRC. As noted earlier, the successes DEE and I have registered are as a direct result of your benevolence to us. Additionally, all Gambians are witnesses to the unprecedented level of development that your government that your government has registered in all sectors especially in the area of education, and university education in particular.

Your establishment of the University of The Gambia has made it possible for many of our young people to acquire quality education on Gambian soil instead of having to endure the painful experiences we did in our generation by travelling abroad in search of knowledge. On the personal level, I must also mention that once again, thanks to your philanthropist, my beloved native village of Gunjur will soon benefit from pipe borne water and electricity. These reasons are more than sufficient to make me give you my fullest unconditional support. Thus, it will be foolhardy and unpatriotic for me not to do so.

However, Your Excellency, Dear President, if my behaviour has in anyway indicated something to the contrary, I wish to unreservedly apologise to Your Excellency and assure you of my total support to you and to the APRC Party. Henceforth, I shall do everything humanly possible to be closely associated with the thoughts and aspirations of the APRC party, under your able and dynamic leadership.

Your Excellency, be assured of my highest esteem and unflinching loyalty to you now and at all times.
