Fayemi charges female lawmakers

The President, African Women’s Development Fund and wife of Ekiti State Governor, Chief Bisi Fayemi, has charged the three female Action Congress of Nigeria legislators-elect to the Ekiti State House of Assembly to contribute meaningfully to legislative work of the assembly when the new session is inaugurated in June.

This was contained in a statement in ado-Ekiti on Wednesday by the Special Assitant on Media to Fayemi, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, gave the charge when she received the three legislators-elect and other women leaders in her office, on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.

The three legislators-elect- Mrs Olajide Ayotunde (Moba II), Mrs. Dupe Olayinka (Ado II) and Barrister Wunmi Ogunlola (Ijero)-were led by the State’s ACN Women Leader, Chief Ronke Okusanya.

The governor’s wife said it was important for the three female lawmakers to represent the women-folk creditably well in the assembly.

She urged them to ensure that the state assembly, through their contributions, was better positioned through enhance good governance.

“If you perform well, members of your constituencies will have greater confidence in you and that will ensure your re-election or positioning for greater roles in the future,” she said.
