‘Sata Won’t Succeed in Denting the Country’s Image ‘

THE Global Commodity Institute has said Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata’s attempts to damage the image of Zambia abroad will not succeed.

Global Commodity Institute country director Mwango Chisha said in an interview that Mr Sata’s attempts to damage the image of the country would not succeed because even the international community had ignored him, knowing that he was not a serious politician.

Mr Chisha said Mr Sata’s remarks in the United Kingdom during his last trip were unpatriotic and just aimed at achieving his personal goals.

He said the concerns by Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande about Mr Sata’s behaviour were genuine but that it was also important to note that Mr Sata’s attempt to damage the country’s image by stating that Zambia was corrupt would not succeed because the PF leader did not have what it took to damage the country’s image abroad especially that even the international community had already commended the strides made by the Zambian Government in the fight against corruption.

Mr Chisha said Mr Sata’s negative remarks on the country’s fight against corruption were unpatriotic and would not add anything positive to himself or his party in the eyes of the international community.

He said Mr Sata’s desperation which had been leading him into saying negative things about Zambia was aimed at receiving support from the British, saying that the move was mischievous.

And Leadership In Development(LID) executive director Moses Kalonde has appealed to the citizenry to stop entertaining Mr Sata because he was allegedly a security risk to the nation.Commenting on Mr Sata’s continued denting the images of the country abroad, Mr Kalonde cautioned the citizenry to be wary of the PF leader because of desperate manoeuvres to get into power.

Mr Kalonde said it was unbecoming of Mr Sata to seek sympathy abroad wrongly at the expense of the country.
