“Ghana has no time to give coffee to sleepy drivers” – Adams

The spokesperson of the Rawlingses and Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams has taken a swipe at Vice President John Dramani Mahama’s recent allegory that the driver of the symbolic Yutong Bus of the NDC should be given coffee in order to complete the journey he has embarked on.

The Vice President made the remarks in reaction to comments made by NDC MP for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon Michael Teye Nyaunu who lampooned the Mills-Mahama led government likening the administration to a brand new Yutong bus full of sleeping and wide-awake passengers who lack the courage to reprimand the reckless driver at the steering wheel for his bad motoring skills.

The outspoken NDC MP accused the current administration of taking knee-jerk decisions in running the affairs of the country, adding that the only way to prevent the bus from veering off course is to change the driver (President Mills).

The Vice President, John Mahama, made a mockery of the MP’s analogy, saying “a mate could not replace a Chief Driver to take over the steering wheels.

However, Mr. Kofi Adams who was with former President Rawlings during the arrival of Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah noted that Ghana is tired of drivers who cannot take passengers to their specific destinations.

“We need a driver who can drive a bus that takes off from the station with drunkards, those who talk too much, those sneezing and coughing to their destinations. We are tired of a driver who takes off from the station and decides to drop passengers at points they did not say they are going to. If you took passengers from Accra to Tamale you must take them to Tamale.

“We are tired of a driver who has dropped too much passengers on the way to Tamale. We want a driver that can take the remaining passengers and if possible get more persons to fill the spaces that has been created to their final places”.

He noted that Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah’s entry into the race for the flagbearership slot of the NDC is to save the NDC from total annihilation.
