Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has called the decision of some of his players to stay out until 4am drinking after the club’s end of season gala as ‘an error of judgement’.
The club are embroiled in a relegation dog fight, lying just outside the relegation zone on 39 points, with just goal difference separating them, Blackpool and Wigan Athletic, and McLeish voiced his concern ahead of Sunday’s make or break game with Tottenham.
“It was an error of judgement. They know I was disappointed with that,” he told Sky Sports News.
He did however move to ensure that not all of his players were blamed, insisting only a minority were involved.
“But there were a lot of players who weren’t out at all, so they shouldn’t be tarred with the same brush.”
Birmingham must win at White Hart Lane to ensure Premier League survival, or risk relying on results elsewhere to keep them in the top flight.
