Shay Given: Even Champions League football may not be enough to keep me at Manchester City

Shay Given has admitted that even Champions League football is unlikely to make him continue plying his trade at Manchester City.

The veteran shot-stopper lost his place to Joe Hart as the club’s No 1 during the start of the season, and has been unhappy about having not received regular football since.

Goal.com exclusively revealed last Tuesday that the Republic of Ireland international has become a target to Tottenham Hotspur, and the 35-year-old appears to be inclined towards a move away from Eastlands.

“I’d like to be playing and I don’t know what will happen in the summer,” Given said, according to The Sun.

“I don’t know if being part of the Champions League will persuade me to stay – there’s a lot of questions I don’t really have the answer to.

“I know there’s a lot worse clubs you could be at than Manchester City, but I don’t feel match-sharp when I go to Ireland because I haven’t played.

“It’s frustrating, but the manager made his decision at the start of the season and that’s his decision.”
