Low Educational Level Hinders People’s Integration in Job Market

Luanda — The members of the national committee of the Angolan Women’s Organisation (OMA), Maria Sebastiao “Teresa Gama”, has said in Luanda that the low educational level and professional training of most of the disadvantaged persons, cause difficulties to their integration in the job market.

During the lecture on “Facing poverty in the family and social exclusion”, the ruling party’s female wing official said that “the relation between education and poverty is almost becoming a vicious cycle, that is, people are poor because they have not managed to invest or invested very little in themselves, but poor people have scarce resources to spend in their education”.

She further stressed “the living conditions of a family can condition the future of children born in poor households, both through the available material resources and the socio-cultural aspects that characterise some lifestyles in poverty situation. Reason why the state must be there with social support institutions, as well as the NGOs and the community (…)”.

She concluded by saying that there is a relation between the need to improve social inclusion, especially through poverty reduction, and the need to have into account factors such as education and poverty.
