FA warn Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti over future conduct following comments made about Howard Webb

The Football Association have warned Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti about his future conduct just hours after giving Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson a dressing down over a similar incident.

The warning relates to comments Ancelotti made in his pre-match media press conference prior to the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Manchester United on May 8.

The FA handed out the same warning to Ferguson after he praised referee Howard Webb before his Manchester United side went on to beat title rivals Chelsea 2-1.

Webb was the official for the match at Old Trafford between the two teams and the FA deemed Ferguson’s comments – where he dubbed Webb “the best in the country” – as unsuitable.

The FA acknowledged the comments made by Ferguson were a minor breach and warned him and other top-flight managers of their future conduct.

A statement on the FA’s website reads: “In this case, it was considered to be a minor breach, but a breach nevertheless, and it should be taken as a warning to all managers in the future that any such breach, even positive comments, are likely to result in a charge by the FA.”
