EFF Provides Sanitary Facilities to Foni Communities

Foni — The Eastern Foni Federation (EFF), in collaboration with EU-Child Fund Water and Sanitation (WatSan) project, recently dug 34 pit latrines in Foni Jarrol and Bondali Districts of the West Coast Region.

Speaking to our reporter, the Eastern Foni Federation Programme Development officer, Teteh Sambou, spoke at length about the importance of the project, saying that the aim of the project is to discourage the attitude of open defecation in the communities of Taiba Nyassen, Bambara, Wassadou, Chewel among others.

He informed that 30 youths were trained to enable them generate income through the skills and knowledge gained in their various communities. According to him, they have also sensitised the beneficiary communities on the hazards of human excreta, methods of excreta disposal, care and maintenance of pit latrines amongst others.

He called on the beneficiaries to take good care of the toilet facilities.
