West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace unveils plans to increase stadium capacity

West Bromwich Albion and club owner Jeremy Peace are pursuing plans to renovate the Hawthorns stadium over the next three seasons, and install an additional 3,500 seats to the century-old stadium.

The stadium currently can seat 26,500 spectators, with additional seating bringing in significant extra match day revenue.

Peace confidently told reporters: “Our medium-to long-term plans include an extension of the Hawthorns to around 30,000-seat capacity within the next three years.”

West Brom has seen something of a revival in recent years, with the addition of Roy Hodgson at manager propelling the side towards safety, and Peace is looking for the club to grow.

“We believe it is the right thing to do as we endeavour to move the club forward and pro-actively encourage the next generation of supporters to come to the Hawthorns,” Peace added.

He stated that “regardless of divisional status,” the stadium additions will be completed.

The club are presently in 11th place, with 46 points to their name.
