While I am still trying to make heads or tails of this new AMPLIFIED Big Brother house – 26 housemates! – newspaper deadlines, death and taxes remain some of the only certain things in life.
And, as we all know, the show must go on, with or without me being fully versed on all 26 of this funky bunch, so please do forgive me if I confuse a Vimbai with a Vina.
Tuned in just before the nomination show on Monday evening to find our girl Bernadina chatting away with Malawi’s playful Felicia and the ‘I-so-think-I’m-cooler-than-you’ Vina.
Seems the conversation veered a little below the belt, which had Bernadina blushing all manner of colours. She looked coy and told Felicia she was worried her parents might be watching.
All of a sudden the camera’s switched from the Heads house to the Tails and I didn’t get to see what happened next; all I know is that when the cameras did return to their conversation, Bernadina was wiping away tears, while Vina apologised profusely for making her cry, even apologising to Namibia.
Vina seems like a smart and cool person, but we Namibians are mostly a patriotic bunch and we don’t take too kindly to people who mess with our peeps.
So, for now – Vina has been placed firmly on probation – in my book at least.

Meanwhile, in the Tails house, I happened to catch a rather curious conversation between Lil Kim lookalike Karen and Uganda’s Ernest. The earnest one was earnestly sharing his private photos – showing off a few of his ex-girlfriends and – wait for it – pics from his traditional circumcision ceremony!
Am I the only one who thinks that is just way weird?
Karen and Lotus were also a little perplexed and couldn’t quite understand why he would choose to undergo such a painful procedure as an adult.
Ernest patiently explained to the ladies that while most boys have it done as babies, in his family it was tradition to go through the ceremony as adults, in order to fully understand the cultural significance.
Well okay then, that makes a bit more sense, just hope he didn’t reveal any of the more graphic shots!
Later, caught Karen and Ernest discussing strategy, with Ernest insisting it was too soon in the game to get caught up in cliques and to make allies.
Karen, though, was having none of it as she analysed the Tails house, wondering who was with her and who might be against her.
Also caught the beautifully chiselled Luclay discussing his favourite films and actors.
I dare you to take a wild guess who his favourite actor is? None other than Denzel Washington! And while there is no doubt Denzel is one of the best (and hottest, even at his age) actors around, actor and acting coach Luclay still has a way to go in proving what exactly he is capable of …
TASK TIME
Confidence was whipped into quite a frenzy at the Nomination announcement on Monday night, seems the pretty CEO from Ghana had a bit of trouble taking the news and needed some nicotine to ease the stress.
But Biggie, taking his usual kind of sadistic pleasure watching them bite their nails down to a stump, did not oblige.
Ag shame Biggie, you did ask who smoked before you let them into the house so why now deprive the poor housemates?
This week’s task sees the housemates having to conceptualise a calendar, pose for pictures, and shoot a ‘Making Of’ video. They have to work together in groups to produce professional images worthy of international publication.
And the theme? Suffice it to say that Biggie wants them to show off their “outrageous” side.
In the Heads house, Zeus, Confidence, Danny, Weza and Vimbai have gone for the ‘Discretely Nude’ theme, while Lotus, Ernest and Miss P are going for the same theme in Tails.
For the ‘Around the World’ theme, Nic, Karen, Luclay and Mumba in Tails will be competing against Jossy, Wendall, Sharon O, Felicia and Millicent.
Tackling the ‘Swimsuit Sublime’ theme will be Tails Head of House Bhoke, Kim, Alex and Nkuli while Hanni, Lomwe, Vina, Bernadina and Michael will be going for the ‘Fancy Dress’ theme.
Tails have wagered 100 per cent, while Heads have been a little more conservative with 50 per cent.
Remember that Confidence, Danny, Jossy, Vina, Weza and Vimbai are all up for possible Eviction. So vote to keep your favourite in the house.
