Urr Red Cross Office Undergo Renovation

Urr — The Upper River Region (URR) Red Cross Brach Office is currently undergoing a massive renovation projected to cost D1.2 million.

Funded by the Spanish government through the Spanish Red Cross, the project, which began in April 2011, also includes the construction of three guest houses and the fencing of the premises.

Speaking to the Daily Observer at the site, Dawda Sankareh, the URR Red Cross branch officer said the project is very important to them, in the sense that it will accord them the opportunity to expand the offices. He disclosed that after the renovation, they will have three more offices, a store and a hall.

He explained that the guest houses will help in reducing the financial constraints they used to face in the past, saying the little money will be spent wisely. Sankareh opined that the project will help in encouraging members to be committed to the movement as well as attract more volunteers. He finally thanked the Spanish government for funding the project, describing them as true friends of The Gambia.

Musa Bojang, site foreman said the project is going smoothly and is now at its climax.
