Agricultural Bank Extends Billions to 55,000 Families in Kordofan

Khartoum — The acting Director of the Agricultural Bank of Sudan, Kordofan Sector Mammon Suleiman Taha has announced that the bank’s initiative on the micro-finance targeted 55,000 families in three localities in Kordofan states including Omruwaba, Abu Zabad and Lagawa at cost of 10 billion pounds.

He told SUNA that the initiative, which is to be implemented in collaboration with the Central Bank of Sudan and the Resource Program of the Western Kordofan, targeted improvement of economic and social level of the rural inhabitants in all the said localities, explaining that the Agricultural Bank of Sudan is now being implemented 50% of the micro-finance besides provision of operating expenses during 2011-2012, pointing out that the Administration of the Western Kordofan Resource Program provides fixed assets and technical support. Taha added that a five-year plan was set for the initiative’s implementation and work has started in Omruwaba locality.
