Sulley Muntari to return to Inter after Sunderland loan expires

Sunderland will not be making an offer for Sulley Muntari after the midfielder’s loan spell at the Stadium of Light expires at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old joined from Inter in January but has struggled to make an impact in his nine appearances this term.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Chairman Niall Quinn has informed the Italian side that the current deal is not right for the club.”

Steve Bruce, whose squad has been hit with a number of injuries has declined to take the Ghanaian on a permanent deal.

“Sulley has been a great professional in his time here and naturally we’d like to thank him for his contribution to our season and wish him all the best for the future,” said Bruce.
