Manchester United boosted their impressive performances on the pitch by posting figures which show commercial revenues have risen by 30 per cent.
The club is owned by American Malcolm Glazer, much to the ire of many fans who continue to protest at his handling of United’s finances.
The wearing of green and gold scarves by supporters is recognised as a direct protest at the running of the club, but continued success on the pitch is now being matched by performances off it as well.
Figures revealed today show that not only did commercial revenues rise to £75.3 million in the first nine months of the year in comparison to last year, but turnover in the quarter has gone up from £74.6m to £75.2m from the same period and turnover in the nine months to March has increased from £219.3m to 231.7m.
The club also made two other announcements which highlighted their increasingly favourable financial health.
They said they had bought back £5.5m worth of bonds, taking the amount to £29.5m and moreover, the club’s balance sheet now has £113m in cash and £765.1m of other assets.
However, not all of the figures were favourable, with matchday and media income dropping by £5m.
