Danish Artist Eager to Boost Locals’ Passion for Art

DANISH artist, Anna Samsoee, will have yet another opportunity to boost the locals’ passion for art, when she stages an exhibition dubbed ‘Nooriginnowhere’ at the Nafasi Art Space venue in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

The venue’s projects and programmes manager, Gadi Ramadhan, said the forthcoming exhibition will be the second for Anna, following hot on heels of the first namely ‘Haiuzwi (Not for sale)’ held earlier this week.

“The Nooriginnowhere exhibition will be Anna’s chance to showcase several artworks she has made during her stay in the country,” said Ramadhan, adding that he was looking forward to a good response from domestic arts lovers.

The artist’s previous exhibition solely focused on street art, which refers to artworks mainly displayed in streets.

Street art, according to Anna, was the easiest means to communicate important issues to normal people in societies, apart from making art one of their favourite preoccupations. Anna is the second artist to stage a solo exhibition at the venue as the place continues to host both domestic and foreign artists in an effort to effectively promote domestic arts.

Domestic artist, Thobias Minzi, opened the series by staging his solo exhibition titled ‘Ejose Art’, in which he exhibited several newly created artworks, embracing local touristic attractions and normal lives of the locals in far flung parts of the country.

The’ Nooriginnowhere’ exhibition is expected to run until May 21, before paving way for several other solo projects.

Meanwhile, Paukwa Children Art Festival is expected to take place at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro at the end of this month. Ramadhan said the event, which is specially prepared for children, is set to attract kids from around the region, in which different forms of artistic presentations will take place.
