Tottenham defender Ledley King has made his long-awaited return from injury in a friendly against West Ham United at the club’s training ground.

The 30-year-old has not appeared for Harry Redknapp’s side since their 2-1 victory at Fulham last October due to a persistent groin problem, but he could be set for a first-team return after a successful run-out against the Hammers.

The club captain appeared alongside Sebastien Bassong in an otherwise youthful line-up, with Spurs coming out 3-2 winners over an equally inexperienced West Ham side.

King has been plagued by injury problems in recent seasons, with a troublesome knee complaint limiting his playing time, and restricting him to one game a week, even when fully fit.
