Mogadishu — Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adam, the speaker of Somali transitional federal parliament, on Thursday denied accusations from the government saying that the parliament snubbed a number letters from the government.
The letters about which the transitional government asked the parliament to discuss and approve Somalia agreements with Turkey, Iran, Indonesia and others countries have been baseless and false, a statement from the office of parliament speaker said.
Speaking to the journalists in the seaside Mogadishu, Omar Islow, a Somali MP, read the statement in Mogadishu, saying that the government wants to misguide the people of Somalia.
On the other hand, Asha Ahmed Abdalla, one of the parliamentarians, told reporters that the government has failed to assure the security in the areas they control from Mogadishu.
The transitional federal government of Somalia on Wednesday accused the parliament of ignoring several letters of motions from the government to be discussed and approved/refused by the lawmakers.
“The government has imparted to the parliament several agreements Somalia signed with Turkey, Iran, Sudan, Indonesia and other governments and also it passed to the leadership of the parliament work plan and agendas about transitional tasks” said the statement from the government.
The statement noted that the speaker of the parliament has refused calls from the government towards holding meetings between the parliament and the government to end the differences.
