Liverpool owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner will reportedly fly to Merseyside before Sunday’s match against Tottenham to appoint Kenny Dalglish as the club’s permanent manager.

According to The Mirror, talks have progressed between the fans’ favourite, whose short-term deal runs out in the summer, and the owners since April and the work carried out by Dalglish since his January appointment has impressed the Americans.

The length of contract offered to the 60-year-old, as well as intricate details regarding his relationship with director of football Damian Comolli, are said to have been the two major hurdles in finalising a deal.

Since his arrival upon Roy Hodgson’s January exit, Dalglish has guided Liverpool up to fifth place from a mid-table position.

The Reds’ former No.7 has also overseen an injection of youth into the side, coped with the comings and goings of a busy transfer window and dealt with a spate of injuries to key players such as Steven Gerrard, whilst suffering only three defeats in 19 games.
