Mogadishu — Somali government forces backed by African Union peacekeepers and Al shabaab battled on Thursday in Mogadishu, the capital of lawless Somalia.
The battle which was very heavy mainly took place in the districts of Hodan and Howlwadag as heavy crackling of machine gunfire and artillery bombardments could be heard in many parts of the capital.
The fighting between Al shabaab and Somali forces left at least three people and seven wounded.
The injured people were reported to have rushed to the local medical facilities in war-ridden Mogadishu for treatment.
Al shabaab and Somali government have not released any comments about the battle so far.
