Lagos PDP crisis: Coalition wants party appointments suspended

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been urged to suspend all appointments for the Lagos State branch of the party until the current internal crisis in the state PDP is resolved.

The coalition of PDP neutral members who made the call in Lagos after a meeting Monday also called on the national headquarters of the party to proscribe all caucuses immediately.

While saying that subsequent appointments should be made on merit, the meeting advocated that an unbiased caretaker committee should be set up as well as total overhaul of the structure of the party for its sustenance and repositioning.

The meeting, which was chaired by a member of the National Council of Jonathan Campaign Organisation for the just-concluded presidential election, Princess Gloria Adebajo-Fraser (MFR), suggested that, “all current leaders of the party should be constituted into an advisory council while new breed, experienced, unbiased and committed party members should preside, participate and direct the party in the restructuring process towards 2015.”

The meeting attended by representatives of 13 local government areas advised all groups and individuals who are involved in the crisis to stop media war to allow for internal mediation of the feud, while it also condemned, “the irreconcilable differences among our party leaders which have inadvertently affected the fortunes of the party negatively.”
