The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Examination Council, Prof. Promise Okpala, says 62, 682 pupils have been registered to write the National Common Entrance Examination on Saturday.
Okpala told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Wednesday that Lagos State had the highest number of 16,050 pupils, while Kebbi and Yobe with 83 and 74 pupils respectively had the lowest numbers.
He said adequate measures, in terms of personnel and examination materials, had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free conduct of the examination.
Okpala added that the examination answer sheets had been customised with the names of the pupils and the participating schools to minimise errors on the part of the candidates.
He explained that the accreditation of candidates would hold between 7am and 9am and appealing to parents and guardians to bring the candidates to the examination centres early for the exercise.
“As usual, we are determined to conduct a very credible examination that will satisfy all stakeholders, particularly parents and the pupils,’’ he said.
