For lying under oath, jurors Josephine Yah and Archie Barblo, on the panel of 12 hearing the Central Bank of Liberia LD7.6m theft case at Criminal Court ‘C’, were Tuesday jailed for 30 days each at the Monrovia Central Prison.
Judge Blamo Dixon Criminal Court ‘C’ sentenced jurors Josephine Yah and Archie Barblo for 30 days each in prison, and ruled forfeiture of all their benefits after state prosecutors filed application for their removal for acts incompatible of with their judicial function.
Both Josephine Yah and Archie Barblo had indicated West Point as their place of residence, but they often requested court officers who escorted them to Sinkor for their clothes to change.
Judge Dixon said the jurors’ action undermined their oath a jurors in keeping with law”.
Judge Dixon: “No jurors are to lie under oath having read the juror form in order to serve as jurors. But jurors Josephine Yah and Archie Barblo action to lied on their place of residence was a clear violation of the new judicial law of LIberia”.
Meanwhile, Judge Dixon has set next Monday for final argument into the CBL theft case.
