Magistrate’s Court has fined two persons 180.00 Ghana cedis each for
fighting in public and also disturbing public peace.
Arthur Hagan, 32, Proprietor of Best Brain Senior High School and
Charles Andy Newton, 22 of the Excellence Senior High School in Breman
Asikuma, pleaded guilty.
They will be face two months jail term in hard labour each if
they fail to pay the fine.
Narrating the facts of the case to the court presided over by
Mrs Cynthia Hammond Andy, Police Chief Inspector Gershon Awuyee said
Hagan is also a teacher at Breman Methodist Junior High School while
Newton was also a former student of the same school.
He said on March 18, 2011 at about 2100 hours, Newton was
walking with his friends and reaching a spot near the Methodist
School, met Hagan who confronted him on why he (Newton) was going
about insulting him.
The Prosecutor said this generated into a quarrel and later
turned into a fight.
After that they both reported the case to the police and were
each given police medical form to attend hospital, the prosecution
said.
Chief Inspector Awuyee said the police arrested them after they
had returned from Our Lady of Grace Hospital at Breman Asikuma and
arraigned them before court.
The court also bonded them for six months to be of good behaviour
or in default two months imprisonment.
