Parliament Snubbed Several Letters From the Government

Mogadishu — The transitional federal government of Somalia on Wednesday accused the parliament of ignoring several letters of motions from the government to be discussed and approved/refused by the lawmakers.

“The government has imparted to the parliament several agreements Somalia signed with Turkey, Iran, Sudan, Indonesia and other governments and also it passed to the leadership of the parliament work plan and agendas about transitional tasks” said the statement from the government.

The statement noted that the speaker of the parliament has refused calls from the government towards holding meetings between the parliament and the government to end the differences.

“The government asked the parliament one year term extension for all constitutional institutions of the government thought the request was denied by the speaker to send to the parliament” it added.

However, rift between the president and the speaker of the parliament is seemingly skyrocketing as the mandate of TFG is due to expire on August, this year.
