Myth Surrounding JJ Is Broken…He’s No God And Must Shut Up Or… – Allotey

Outspoken Central Regional Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ben Allotey Jacobs has asserted that the founder of the party, ex-president Jerry John Rawlings has lost the respect, commitment and loyalty of many party followers, adding that the myth surrounding him has been broken.

Speaking on Peace FM’s flagship programme, “Kokrokoo”, Mr Allotey Jacobs said the ex-president should be made to understand that the loyalty of members of the ruling party is what has kept him going all these years.

“I want to advise former President Rawlings…his saviour apart from the Almighty God is the NDC party. The rank and file of the NDC party has always surrounded him, have been loyal to him, and that loyalty is what has kept him going,” he said.

To him, former Chief Executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Mensah, is the greatest enemy in the house of the Rawlingses, yet they are too blind to see. He counseled the former President to use the upcoming June 4th celebration to redeem his sinking image and integrity.

“My advice to former President Rawlings, who is the founder of my party is that…June 4th is the last chance for him to protect his image and his integrity. June 4th will be the last chance for him because time is catching up with him,” he said.

The Board member of the ECG urged Mr Rawlings to emulate the admirable example of ex-president John Agyekum Kufour in order to restore the respect he once enjoyed from the party.

“His popularity…the myth surrounding ex-president Rawlings is broken. The charisma, the respect, the commitment and loyalty of party members to Flt Lt. Jerry John Rawlings is gone! Gone are the days when it was a taboo to speak against or question Mr. Rawlings. Now look at what is happening…President Kufuor has protected his integrity…people are now admiring the man. You see the position he’s taken, we expect Jerry John Rawlings to also take a similar position.”

“Sometimes when interacting with people, they keep asking “does Rawlings think he’s god of Ghana?” It’s because of NDC’s personification of Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, therefore he might think that ‘I am a god’…But on this earth, there’s only one person who was elevated by God into the godship and that was Moses…I’ll plead with former president Rawlings…he either keeps quiet and retain the respect that he has in the party or he goes ahead and spew out certain things that will make people to throw missiles at him,” he concluded.
