Teye Nyaunu who is a member of the campaign team of the former first lady, Nana Kinadu Agyemang Rawlings, said if Dr. Spio-Garbrah picked up the nomination forms, it will be a clear indication that there is serious crisis in the party.
Dr Spio-Garbrah on Tuesday picked up nomination forms by proxy to contest the NDC’s flagbearership elections scheduled for July 8 this year in Sunyani. Until now, the race was between sitting president J.E.A. Mills and former first lady Nana Konadu who picked up nominations forms last week.
But the Lower Manya Krobo MP who was speaking on Citi FM said, “Dr Spio-Garbrah should not pick the forms,” emphasizing that, “picking of the forms is the real indication that we have serious crisis in the party. We have not got the precedence where a sitting president has been challenged to this extent…”
Teye Nyaunu however pointed out that, “the inability of the Council of Elders and big shots in the party to rescue this situation..is most unfortunate…” Still affirming his stance, he revealed that he is convinced that Spio-Garbrah will not pick up the nomination forms and even if he does, “he will not submit the forms.”
“I know Dr Spio-Garbrah will not like to get into this murky situation to compound whatever is going on, rather he will choose the route of finding what solution we have to prescribe to this crisis that is affecting the party,” he stressed.
