Khartoum — President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, returned home Sunday evening from Djibouti where he attended the inauguration of its President Ismail Omer Guelleh after wining the presidential elections in his country. The President was received upon arrival at Khartoum Airport by the Vice President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, and a number of ministers.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information Dr. Kamal Obeid said in a statement to the press the President of Djibouti has commended during his inauguration ceremony remarks the Sudanese model in solving longstanding and complicated crises within the IGAD Group. The Minister of Information said that the visit was a good opportunity to confirm the democratic track adopted by the African countries for realizing peaceful transition and handling of power as well-established experiment in the African continentDr. Obeid said that President Al-Bashir inspected progress of work in the hospital which is being established as a gift from the Sudanese government to the people of Djibouti, explaining the construction of this hospital is completed by 50% and due to finish by next November.
He said that President Guelleh’s official statement highlighted on the economic cooperation in Africa and spoke about the contribution of Sudan to realization of food security in Djibouti by growing some crops in Sudan for the benefit of the people of Djibouti. The minister said that President Al-Bashir has held talks with a number of heads of delegations that participated in the inauguration of the Djibouti President focusing on current issues and the situation in the region. It is to be noted that President Al-Bashir was accompanied during his visit to Djibouti by the Minister of Presidency of the Republic, Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, the Minister of Information, Dr. Kamal Obeid, and the Press Secretary of the President, Emad Sid-Ahmed.
