Hamburg striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has confirmed he could move to either Spain or England once his contract expires with the German club at the end of the season, insisting he has “good contacts” in the Premier League.

The veteran Dutch striker has suffered an injury-blighted campaign, making only 19 Bundesliga starts, scoring seven goals in the process.

Van Nistelrooy has been linked with several clubs around Europe but has stated his preference for a switch to either La Liga or the Premier League having plied his trade in both countries previously.

“Spain would be great because I have played there before but in the Premier League I have many good contacts,” Van Nistelrooy told Bild.

“There are concrete offers but for the first time in my career, I will be an agent in the summer. I will sit down with the proposals and make a decision with my wife.”
