Udinese reveal Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez’s future will be based on Champions League qualification

Udinese director of sport Fabrizio Larini has confirmed the club will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether to sell Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez.

Last week Goal.com revealed how the club would keep £26 million-rated Sanchez if they qualify for the Champions League – a condition which has now been backed by the club chief.

Larini confirmed qualification to Europe’s elite competition would provide incentives to upgrade the squad, rather than dismantle it.

He also confirmed the presence of City chief executive Gary Cook in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Lazio, as exclusively revealed by Goal.com.

He told calciomercato.it: “I did not speak with any observers from Manchester City yesterday, but I am not surprised of their presence. All year we have had representatives from all the great clubs coming to see our players. We have many high level players who could attract their attention.

“People like Sanchez, Gokhan Inler, Samir Handanovic, Kwadwo Asamoah. At the moment nothing has been decided in that sense to sell the star players.

“We have said with the president that we will wait until the end of the term and make every evaluation based on where we finish.”

The Friulani are currently fourth with two games remaining in Serie A.
