Hughes: Is enjoying his time as Fulham manager after being linked with the Chelsea job

Mark Hughes insists he is happy in his job as Fulham manager after being mooted as a contender to take charge at Chelsea.

The former Manchester United striker is enjoying his first season at the Fulham helm and has the club on course for a top-10 finish in the Premier League.

His work at Craven Cottage, coupled with his efforts at previous clubs Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City, has seen the Welshman put forward as a contender for the Chelsea position.

Reports suggest current Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is likely to be replaced at the end of the season following the failure to win a trophy this term.

However, Hughes is not being distracted by talk of a potential switch to Fulham’s local rivals and is focused on his present post.

Very happy

“I’ve still got another year left (on my contract),” said Hughes, who spent three years as a player at Stamford Bridge after leaving United and has also been linked with Aston Villa.

“I’m very happy here and I’d like to think I project that.

“I’m very happy with the job I have and the group of players I have and we can be successful here.”

He added: “That speculation is not coming from me or from the people who purport to represent me.

“It’s just out there as a consequence of what we do. But I’m very happy here and really enjoying my time.”
