Wolves boss Mick McCarthy calls win over West Brom a huge result

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy called Wanderers’ 3-1 win over their Black Country neighbours, West Brom, a huge result which saw his team climb out the relegation zone at the expense of Blackpool.

“It’s easy to say but of course that was a huge result,” McCathy told Sky Sports News. “What matters though is what happens on 22 May, not 8 May and I’ve said that all along. We are out of the bottom three now and we want to stay out of the bottom three but there are two huge games coming up.”

Two goals from in-form Steven Fletcher and an Adlene Guedioura strike sealed a comfortable win over rivals West Brom and despite the pressure he’s under in the Premier League relegation scrap, McCarthy is enjoying the ride.

He added “Sometimes I don’t know what all the fuss is about but I’m enjoying the season. Obviously I’m enjoying it even more today because we’ve just beaten West Brom 3-1 but whatever happens I’ll enjoy it until the end.”

Wolves now face a trip to Sunderland next week before hosting Blackburn Rovers on the last day of the season.
