Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he intends to continue as the manager of Manchester United next season.

The Scot has been in charge of the club since 1986, and his 25 consecutive seasons in the post make him both the longest serving boss in United’s history and the longest serving currently working in the Premier League.

Backshortly after the manager took over at Old Trafford, he stated that his aim was to knock then all-conquering Liverpool off their perch.

And having won 11 Premier League titles with United, he has now taken the club level on 18 top-flight championships with their Merseyside rivals.

There had been some speculation that the 69-year-old could retire if the Red Devils won the league to surpass Liverpool this season, but he insists otherwise.

“I’ll be here next year,” said Sir Alex, according to The Mirror.

In addition to winning 11 league titles, the veteran manager has also guided United to two Champions League triumphs, five FA Cups and four League Cups among other honours.
