Kenwyne Jones: Stoke City could win 10-0 and still be labelled as boring

Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones believes his side could win every game 10-0 and would still be labelled boring by critics.

Despite their recent 5-0 win over Bolton in an FA Cup semi-final, the Trinidad & Tobago international believes people will keep the same attitude, no matter how Stoke play in the upcoming final.

He said: “If we won every game 10-0 next season, we would still be called boring. It’s not going to make a difference. I don’t know where it comes from.

“Everyone says it. If we’re on TV it’s ‘boring this’ and ‘boring that’, but then we won 5-0 so what does that say then?”

“It is sometimes nice to watch paint dry, you know that,” he added.

“Is it annoying? A lot of things are annoying, but you have to get on with them.

Jones went on to say: “It’s like a broken record playing over and over. Sometimes you get tired of responding because it no longer make sense.”

The Potters physical strike force of John Carew, Mamade Sidibe, Ricardo Fuller & Jones himself has done no harm to Stoke’s ability to escape relegation comfortably in their first two seasons, along with the long throw of Rory Delap.

And with the FA Cup final coming up, Jones feels his background stands him in good stead for the big day.

“I am a spiritual person and from a very young age growing up you have challenges and things before you to deal with,” he said.

“You can’t do anything about tomorrow because it is going to happen.

“Even if I am nervous, things are going to happen regardless of what I do or whether I decide to wear my boxer shorts the wrong way round or whatever. You can only do what you can do.”
