President Goodluck Jonathan has written to the Nasarawa State governor-elect, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, congratulating him over his victory at just held governorship poll.
Almakura defeated the Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma of the PDP in the election. Doma is yet to congratulate Al-Makura.
The president’s congratulation came to Al-Makura in a letter dated April 30. Jonathan described Al-makura’s election as a “reflection of the confidence which the people of Nasarawa State have in your leadership”, adding, “it should be seen as a call to service and an opportunity for moral introspection, spiritual re-generation and a resolve to chart a glorious future for the people of Nasarawa State.”
The president gave indication that he will work with Al-Makura, saying he is confident that doing so will add value to his drive to transform the nation.
“We can successfully drive our nation’s transformation over the next four years”, the letter said, assuring the governor-elect of the federal government’s “unstinting support as we jointly work to reposition Nigeria for her God-ordained greatness.”
