Ghana Can’t Stop Falcons – Ex-nigeria International Emoedofu

Ghana U19 side held Nigeria’s first team the Falcons in an All Africa Games qualifier

Ex-Nigeria international, Anthony Emoedofu, has expressed optimism that the Super Falcons will qualify for the All- Africa Games, despite a 1-1 draw with the Black Queens of Ghana in the first leg tie decided in Abuja.

“I don’t see any justification in condemning the Falcons because of this result. Can you compare Ghana to Nigeria, what is the pedigree of Ghana in women’s football at the global level? I am confident that we will beat Ghana at their backyard. We only need to support the Falcons with prayers,” Emoedofu told Sunday Tribunesports.

He noted that the first leg result would even help the Falcons to prepare well for the cracker in Ghana.

“It will help the coaching crew to strategise for the match and ensure that our players are in their best element to win the match in Ghana regardless of the environment,” Emoedofou, a member of Damman miracle fame added.

“We have to show that we are the champions on the continent and I’m confident that we have what it takes to beat Ghana,” the Canada ‘87 silver medallist with the Golden Eaglets said.

Meanwhile, Team Manager of Ineeh Queens FC, Sunday Iwelu said that the Falcons would return from Ghana with joy.

“Nigerians should not entertain fears about the outcome of the match, Ghana is not a threat to our qualification and the Falcons I’m sure have learnt a lesson with the result in Abuja.

“We have done it before and we are going to do it again, the coaches know what to do at the right time. We only need to expose our home-based players to be able to withstand any level of opposition like we have in the men’s football,” Iwelu said.
