Saad Tedjar scored twice to help Kabylie comeback against Missile

Reigning Confederation Cup champions FUS Rabat of Morocco have been knocked out of the tournament by Primeiro Agosto of Angola.

Rabat were defending a 1-1 draw from the first leg of their third round tie in Morocco, but lost 1-0 in Luanda.

The winning goal for Agosto came from the penalty spot after a Rabat defender committed a foul in the 33rd minute.

Other teams through to the next stage include MAS of Morocco and Algeria’s JS Kabylie.

Kabylie performed a remarkable comeback against Missile FC of Gabon.

The Algerian giants lost the first leg in Libreville 3-0, but won the second, home leg of their tie by the same score and then went through on penalties.

Saad Tedjar scored twice in the first half and Ali Cherif-Yahia completed the win on the hour mark and Kabylie won the subsequent penalty shoot-out 3-0.

MAS were beaten 2-0 by Al Khartoum of Sudan on Saturday but go through to the next round thanks to their 5-1 first leg win.

There are five remaining matches to be played in the Confederation Cup over the weekend.

Another Moroccan team, Difaa al-Jadida, has a strong chance of making it through as they defend a 3-0 first leg win against Adema in Madagascar.

In other matches, Kenya’s Sofapaka will try to overturn a 2-1 first leg defeat by DR Congo’s St Eloi Lupopo, Nigeria’s Sunshine Stars take a 2-0 first-leg lead to USFA of Burkina Faso and Harras el Hadoud of Egypt defend a 2-1 lead from the opening leg of their tie in Kinshasa, where they play DR Congo’s DC Motema Pembe.

Kaduna United of Nigeria have already secured their place in the next round, after Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia refused to travel for the first leg of their tie on security grounds.
