Ato Dadzie: NDC Faces A Challenge From Within

The former Chief of Staff under former President Rawlings says Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings must work harder if she is to beat President Mills for the flagbearer slot of the NDC in July this year.

According to Nana Ato Dadzie, President Mills has proven to be a good leader and stands a better chance of being re-elected as leader of the party ahead of the 2012 general elections.

Although he does not rule out Nana Konadu entirely from winning the Presidential primaries, Nana Ato Dadzie opined that Mrs Rawlings will be faced with a tough contest.

Speaking to Citi News, the former Chief of Staff said the NDC is capable of re-uniting for the 2012 elections after the primaries irrespective of who emerges winner of the July congress.

“There will be challenges ahead but how the NDC handles the situation will determine the strength of the NDC as a democratic party. I am sure that the party will overcome it.

“The NPP had a similar situation where they had 17 aspirants but they came out strong. But the NDC faces a challenge from within and I think that is the whole aspect of democracy.

“I think that Mrs Rawlings must work a lot harder to beat him (President Mills) so let see what happens”.
