Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero: I will stay until 2014

Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero has revealed his desire to end his football career at his first club Independiente, but also affirmed that he was not considering a move away from the Spanish club in the near-future, wanting to see out his current deal that runs until 2014.

The 22-year-old made his debut for Independiente at just 15, and despite leaving the club two years later he managed to play over 50 games in Argentina as a teenager. ‘Kun’ is considered an idol in the red half of Avellaneda, not least because the reported €23 million transfer fee paid by the Spanish club allowed Independiente to rebuild their dilapidated Doble Visera home.

Speaking on Friday, the Albiceleste international affirmed that it was his dream to finish playing in his original football home, and he hoped it happened before he was too old.

“I would like to finish my career in Argentina and more precisely at Independiente, because I am a huge fan and because I left there at a very young age,” the forward told Marca.

Aguero added that he was happy to be with the Colchoneros, and despite strong speculation linking him with a move away he had no intention to leave despite recently being linked with the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, and Manchester United.

“On the day I wish to leave I will tell the directors and go, although I am not thinking about that now… I have renewed my contract until 2014 and I will stay put until then,” ‘Kun’ concluded.

He and Atletico are next in action on Saturday evening, when they take on Malaga at home.
