Wolves winger Matt Jarvis believes a victory against West Midlands rivals West Brom will see his side stay in the Premier League.

A victory could lift Wolves out of the relegation zone with just two matches remaining and Jarvis is targeting victory in the Black Counrty derby as the springboard for survival.

“If we beat West Brom  we’ll stay up, I think,” Jarvis told Sky Sports.

“It’s a huge game, no matter what division we’re in. But if it could get any bigger, then it is bigger for us with the position we’re in.

“We need the points more than they do.

“That would be three points more first and foremost but also it would enhance the positive feel around the place.”

Jarvis won his first England cap in the 1-1 draw against Ghana in March and is targeting another call-up for the match against Switzerland on June 4.

But after suffering relegation in the past with Gillingham in 2005, he is determined not to experience it again with Wolves.

He added: “It’s devastating to be relegated. It’s horrible. No one wants to be put through that.

“But this time last year we were in a similar situation and we got ourselves out of it. So we can use that experience to help us.

“I don’t want to look back and think that’s the season I won my first cap and got relegated as well.”
